Rugby and the rest of this “season”

16 Mar 2020 by Doug Millen

All,

You’ve probably seen very recent developments in the news.

It is with regret we have had to cancel ALL training and matches until further notice following RFU regulations and recommendations that state:

“ Following government advice today, the RFU will suspend all rugby activity in England, at both professional and community level, including club training, league and cup matches plus rugby education courses from 17 March until 14 April subject to continued review. “

I’m not too sure if we will see a return to rugby this season to be honest ??

Everyone’s health is our main concern.

This has already sadly affected Nathan, Brad and Lewis’ opportunity to play in their college final tomorrow at Allianz Park, it will probably affect Andrew’s England activity and I know a few of our Seaford lads were looking forward to schools festivals that were about to commence. It will undoubtably have an effect on our planned trip to Allianz on Easter Sunday , April 12th. It will no longer be permitted to go ahead, postponement will be tricky to organise but we will endeavour to do our best!!

I’m glad many of you had the opportunity to play senior rugby this season and it may be this will still continue later this season, for sure it will happen next ! If you didn’t get a run out for the seniors you’ve 40 years ahead of you to enjoy the fantastic sport of Rugby !!

I’m really happy we finished Sunday with a great match against Cranleigh and allowing many of you the chance to play what could prove to be your last youth / colts match !?

Let’s hope this season isn’t over but if it is …….. I’ve loved every minute ! You’ve ALL transformed into fantastic young men and rugby players and made us very proud coaches !!

We’ll get together sometime “soon” and discuss our future. In the meantime ……. keep fit and stay heathy !!!

See you soon and look out for updates

Many thanks
