When we travelled to Heathfield last season we took 17 to their 27.

They’re a good team with some skill full players and are having a successful season. Last season they beat us about 45-10 and in the last round of the pool they beat Shoreham 7-14 !!

I wanted to experiment a little today with playing some players in new positions. With Ewan missing through illness we needed to find pace at full back. Sam Lush stepped into the role and did a great job for us there. Experience will make Sam a real threat to any team.

Ollie moved to 10 as Ben has a broken thumb ( again ) and Harry was out sick, with Pheonix standing in at 9.

Ollie was great at 10 and Pheonix did a superb job at his first day in the 9 position.

Dru made the move to inside centre and proved a menace, defending well and scoring a great hat trick. Billingham supported fantastically on the wing, making great ground up and very physically. Lewis Arbuckle stepped up today and played to his true potential, great tackles and carried very well having received tricky catches. Keep it up Lewis. This is what you’re capable of. (Backs MOTM with Dru a very close second)

Forward work was fantastic today. Took a very physical game to them today. ALL the forwards put in a relentless shift ! We were over every ruck, winning 60% of contests and securing our ball quickly. Dylan took on board everything we’ve asked of him and played the game of his career so far. Remember today Dylan and the positive effect your decisions can make on the team’s ability to play great rugby (Fowards MOTM ) . Close behind Dylan today was Elvis. Great rugby son !! Fantastic skill set display and superb decision making.

It was so difficult to pick standout players today as nobody stood out, BUT for all the right reasons. ALL of you performed to your true potential. Remember the feeling and use it the next time you’re on the field wondering if you can make a difference ?? YOU CAN !

We’ve moving on boys and today’s result was evidence of that ! Whatever happens in future matches, today was a bench mark win. Cherish it and take it forward !
